25 Sep,2020

Kia Motors India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kia Motors Corporation, announced on Thursday the prices of the top-of-the-line variants of its new Sonet compact SUV.

According to a company release, both the Sonet GTX+ 1.0 T-GDI petrol with 7-speed DCT, and GTX+ 1.5 CRDi with 6-speed automatic are priced at INR 12,89,000 (ex-showroom, pan-India).

Kia Sonet GT-Line models feature electric sunroof, red accents all around, leatherette wrapped D-cut steering wheel with GT-Line logo, sporty alloy pedals, leatherette wrapped door trims, contrast red stitching on the steering wheel, seats and door armrest and premium roof lining.

Other features in the SUV include 10.25-inch (26.03 cm) HD touch screen with navigation and live traffic, Smart Pure air purifier with virus and bacteria protection, BOSE Premium seven-speaker sound system with sub-woofer, front ventilated driver and passenger seats, 4.2 inch (10.7 cm) colour instrument cluster, LED sound mood lights, remote engine start via UVO Connect and smart key (automatic and manual transmission), over-the-air (OTA) map updates, multi-drive and traction modes for automatic models, wireless smartphone charger with cooling function among others.

The company launched the Tech Line variants of the Sonet SUV for the Indian market last week at a starting price of INR 6.71 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It comes in trims like HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX and HTX+.

So far, the company has sold two models in India- Seltos and Carnival. But Sonet is the second ‘Made in India’ car from Kia, following the introduction of Kia Seltos.

First showcased as a concept model at the Auto Expo 2020, the SUV will compete with other B-segment SUV models like Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the upcoming Nissan Magnite.
